The food and ingredients supplier Kündig & Cie in Zürich is a family-owned company founded in 1920.
The business has been run out of two stories of office spaces located in central Zürich for the last 40 years. The new generation of Kündig brothers taking over the company has hired Studio Frey to breathe new life into their offices.
The brief was to give the spaces a clean and contemporary feel, conveying their highest industry standards for cleanliness and safety.
To design the space we took inspiration from the ingredients themselves, in particular wheat, also featured in the company logo. The warm and natural feeling of wheat is represented in the choice of a sisal rug throughout the office spaces. The comfortable and stylish office furniture is kept in natural white beige and wood tones, with height-adjustable tables and soundproofing for shared spaces.
By opening up a total of 3 small offices we created a Kitchen and dining area, the 'Kündig food innovation lab' featuring a terrazzo floor and a custom made kitchen to showcase their ingredients and host client and staff dinners as well as company events.

Kündig's portfolio ranges from dry goods and frozen food products to grain, pulses and feedingstuffs through to juices, super foods and plant-based proteins. In total they provide a selection of around 10,000 products.
